SYSTEM LAYOUT

In this NICET series, we focus on developing practical skills for Water-Based Systems Layout. We introduce system components and their purpose, sprinkler spacing rules, and obstruction criteria. We then discuss how to properly develop a design area and work through fundamental hydraulic relationships.

Our objectives include:

  1. Understand the purpose and function of key sprinkler system components.
  2. Be familiar with spacing rules, obstruction rules, and how ceiling configurations affect sprinkler layout.
  3. Be capable of developing a design area and work through basic mathematical relationships related to fire sprinkler hydraulics.

MEET THE INSTRUCTOR

Jesse Cecil, MBA, MS, RME-G 

Fire Suppression System Design and Engineering Technical Director at Fire King, LLC | Austin, Texas, USA 
Jesse is a former career special-operations fire-rescue Chief Officer. After nearly 20 years in public fire protection, Jesse worked in High-Protected Risk (HPR) Engineering for major international property insurers conducting loss-control surveys worldwide. Currently, Jesse serves as the Technical Director / RME-G for Fire King, a fire protection company in the Austin, Texas metro area, and serves on several NFPA Technical Committees. Jesse resides on the north shore of Lake Travis northwest of Austin, Texas with his wife, three grown kids, one granddaughter, several dogs, two Sulcata tortoises, a couple normal cats, and one exceptionally advanced cat.
