SURVEY EXISTING CONDITIONS

In this NICET series, we focus on understanding existing buildings and fire protection systems through site visits and plan review. We talk about how to identify building systems, what to look for during a site visit, and how to gather reliable field information. We then walk through how to read building plans, identify key plan elements, and recognize information that matters for suppression system work.

Our objectives include:

  1. Understand how to prepare for and perform a site visit to gather reliable field information.
  2. Recognize building systems and key plan elements that affect fire suppression system design and layout.
  3. Be capable of connecting information observed in the field with information shown on building plans.
