COMMODITY CLASSIFICATION

In this series, we introduce the fundamentals of commodity classification in storage occupancies. We explore what makes storage unique, define key storage terms, and walk through how we classify products and packaging according to fire behavior. We'll develop a clear path for identifying and adjusting commodities that can be used for storage inspection and sprinkler design.

Our objectives include:

  1. Understand what makes storage unique in terms of fire sprinkler system design and inspection.
  2. Recognize and apply the process for determining commodity classifications, including identification and adjustments.
  3. Begin to develop skill in accurately assessing and adjusting commodity classifications through practice.
